The formula I use to measure the freakness of a bridge hand is summarized below:
| Add 1 point for each card over four or under three in each suit. |
| Add 1 point if the hand has any singleton or 2 points if any void. |
This produces a 0-20 scale, but values of 15, 17 and 19 are impossible.
The average freakness of all bridge hands is 2.98, or more precisely 2.982855307161.
| 4-3-3-3 | = 0 | 6-5-2-0 7-4-2-0 8-2-2-1 8-3-1-1 | = 9 |
| 4-4-3-2 | = 1 | 8-3-2-0 | = 10 |
| 5-3-3-2 | = 2 | 6-6-1-0 7-5-1-0 8-4-1-0 9-2-1-1 | = 11 |
| 4-4-4-1 5-4-2-2 | = 3 | 9-2-2-0 9-3-1-0 | = 12 |
| 5-4-3-1 6-3-2-2 | = 4 | 7-6-0-0 8-5-0-0 9-4-0-0 10-1-1-1 | = 13 |
| 6-3-3-1 | = 5 | 10-2-1-0 10-3-0-0 | = 14 |
| 5-4-4-0 5-5-2-1 6-4-2-1 7-2-2-2 | = 6 | 11-1-1-0 11-2-0-0 | = 16 |
| 5-5-3-0 6-4-3-0 7-3-2-1 | = 7 | 12-1-0-0 | = 18 |
| 6-5-1-1 7-3-3-0 7-4-1-1 | = 8 | 13-0-0-0 | = 20 |
Deal freakness is simply the sum of all four hands, hence a 0-80 scale. Values of 69, 71, 73, 75, 77, 78 and 79 are impossible.
The average freakness of all bridge deals is 11.93, or more precisely 11.931421228644.
